Plain white, lifeless, fluffy snow falls in a slow mo. An Akita dog kept staring as they drop at the ground , his eyes reflect eagerness which are fixed at the wooden door of the train station’s gate.
He knew that something’s amiss by the look at the street clock it’s pass seven but there’s no master coming instead a black Mitsubishi parked and emerged his master’s blonde haired daughter, “Hachi, let’s go home, you don’t need to wait it’s dad who is waiting for you”, she softly muzzled his fur and guided him to the car’s door.
Hachi slowly walked into the room and sat , he felt a tight knot lurking in his stomach and he looked at his master’s wife slowly wiping her tears and blankly looked at the darkened room. All he can hear is the dead silence as he curled and shut the night off.
The smell of the coffee filled the air, he blinked his eyes but it kept on drooping as if tons of cement are piled on it, he stood on his four feet and grumpily walked the hall, through the newly polished staircase, passing the kitchen and out from the gate. The rusty sound of the train kept coming louder and louder, Hachi looked back then walked straight to his sitting spot. Just like what he did for the past ten years on that snowy night, he’ll just wait, wait for his master.
He slouched his once stern shoulder and stared patiently again. A lady in her mid fifties approached with a net combed hair sat next to him and said, “Hachi, I’m grateful of you loving Parker devotedly after all these years …even though he’s gone you love him as much as I do.. So, let us wait for the for the next train”. They sat quietly until the train came, the street clock ticked and she kissed him in the forehead then left.
A familiar aura came to live when Hachi saw the arm length door opened widely and the creaking of it’s time damaged nails sounded slightly. A man with a nice curved forehead, slightly crooked nose and small eyes appeared and he wholly bellowed “Come Hachi, good boy… been waiting for me? Don’t worry I’ll be taking you with me this time”, he then childishly grinned which gives highlight to his baby blue eyes, he threw the peach colored ball. Hachi barked loudly then jumped from his sitting position and easily caught the ball despite his age in his mouth. His master hugged him and they walked away leaving tracks as the same snow covered them slowly.
