Weaving is one of the traditional art industries practiced by many people not only in the Philippines but also in other countries like China and Japan . In Benguet, specifically at Sapid, Mankayan, loom weaving has now become the main business of the citizens specially the unemployed women to supplement their income.
Loom weaving is done by interlacing two or more sets of fibers of woof and warp on a loom .The loom consists of a framework for holding a set of yarns under tension in order for the weft yarn to be inserted when a heddle rod, rather than fingers, lifts the taut yarns. The interlacing process is weaving; the tension device is the loom.
Hand weaving, the queen of the handicraft and perhaps the oldest is most widespread in use, from the heaviest lancing to the finest fabrics.

HOME AND CULTURE
Get your house in order!

Green spring cleaning tips for all households.
You probably already recycle, reduce, reuse, and try to do your part for the planet. With spring almost in full bloom and Earth Day right around the corner, now is the perfect time to welcome the season with some spring cleaning greening.
Avoid indoor air pollutants Household cleaning products and interior decorations (e.g., carpets, wallpaper, paints and stains) are the main culprit of indoor air pollution, which can be up to 100 times worse than outdoor toxins. Vinegar, lemon juice, baking soda, soda water, salt, vegetable soap, and tea tree oil are great, all-natural cleaners. They are surprisingly strong for toxic-free cleaners and won’t pollute the air inside your home. Keeping house plants around will also help to absorb some of the toxic chemicals already in the air.
Ban disposables You may already be doing your part by using green cleaning products, but the most wasteful thing you can do with them is eat up an entire roll of paper towels in the process. Choose sponges and microfiber towels or rags over paper towels, and trade in your Swiffer for a traditional long-lasting mop and broom.
Air dry Extend the life of your clothes and linens by hanging them out to dry. Substitute borax or half a cup of white vinegar for bleach and use biodegradable detergents. Always run a full load of laundry, choose cold over the hot cycle, and if you must use the dryer, make sure that the lint trap has been cleaned out since the last load. You may even want to wash it. With soap!
Now is also the time to clear out your dryer’s vent hose. The lint that accumulates in the hose will make drying slower, waste energy by making your dryer less efficient, and can even be a fire hazard! If you don’t know how to do this, you may want to leave it to a professional. Happy cleaning

Beginners Swimming Tips
Beginners Swimming Tips
- In the beginning, you should not try to over attempt, in terms of the duration of your swimming session as well as its pace. It is advisable to maintain a slow and comfortable pace to start off. Don’t swim for more than 15-20 minutes in the initial stages.
- As a beginner, swimming three or four times per week, that too for 15-20 minutes at a stretch, will give you the best results.
- Throughout your swimming session, it is advisable to keep a constant track of your heart rate. This is to ensure that you are not over-stressing yourself and are in the right training zone.
- If you are feeling tired and fatigue, switch over to low intensity strokes, like sidestroke or breaststroke. You can even swim a few laps, seeking the aid of kickboards.
- For toning your legs, hips and belly, you can do some kickboard kicks. On the other hand, if you want to enhance your breathing skills, it is best to hop up and down in the water.
- If you are looking out for a high intensity-swimming stroke, then crawl or freestyle would be the perfect choice.
- Each and every time you perform a stroke, make it a point to stretch your body well.
- Practice breathing exercise in-between workouts. It is a great way to relax your body and make swimming a delightful experience.
- If you want to make sure that your energy levels stay high for a longer duration, make sure not to kick too hard in water.
- Whenever you are swimming, keep your head tilted in the forward direction, at such a level that water comes up to your hairline only.
- While doing a stroke, extend your arm in front, as much as it is possible. Now, clasp a handful of water and pull it back.
- Rolling with each stroke is very necessary while swimming. For instance, if you have extended your right arm, make sure to keep your right side lower than your left one.

Lady Gaga then invited an already surprised Maria to perform "Born This Way" with her at The Monster Ball Tour concert in Toronto in March, an offer which Maria enthusiastically accepted. On March 3, 2011, Maria joined Lady Gaga on stage in front of a packed audience at the Air Canada Centre, where together they performed an acoustic duet of "Born this Way" with Maria sitting on Gaga's lap, playing piano and Lady Gaga working the pedals. At the end of the song, Gaga turned the microphone over to Maria who thanked the audience and Gaga for allowing her to perform.
